Overview
VIPA-Piano 2019 is moving again with an outstanding program directed by prestigious pianist and pedagogue Juan Lago.
VIPA 2019 Piano Program will be held between July 1 and 5 at the facilities of the “José Iturbi” Conservatory in Valencia, located at Avenida de Baleares, 36, in the breathtaking city of Valencia.

PRO DIVISION
VIPA PRO Division is designed for pianists/students over 18 who are currently enrolled in a college-level degree or have already completed it. Exceptions may occur, but need to be approved by the Director, based on artistic suitability.
At VIPA Piano PRO Division, students will have the opportunity to work with the following outstanding pianists and pedagogues:
NORMA FISHER (Royal College of Music, London, UK)
ALEXANDER KOBRIN (Eastman School of Music, Rochester, NY, USA)
PAVEL NERSESSIAN (Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Moscow, Russia; Boston University, USA)
BORIS SLUTSKY (Peabody Conservatory, Baltimore, USA)
MURRAY McLACHLAN (Royal Northern Conservatory of Music, Cheetham School of Music, Manchester, UK)
NAM YEUNG (Tainan University, Taiwan, China)
TINA SHAO (Tainan University, Taiwan, China)
JUAN LAGO (Conservatorio “José Iturbi”, Valencia, Talent Music Master Courses, Brescia, Italy)
- 5 individual lessons of 60’. Students can specify teacher preference. As far as possible, with the goal of providing a varied learning experience to the students, the organization will try to accommodate requests, but it’s encouraged to take lessons by as many different teachers as possible, in order to obtain the best benefit from the VIPA experience and its diversity.
- Access to all other students’ individual lessons as auditors.
- Full access and opportunity to participate in all workshops, seminars, lectures, and presentations taking place during the festival, including the Composition activities, which will happen between July 10-20.
- Opportunity to perform in one of the concerts, either in the Conservatory’s Auditorium or at the VIPA Concert Festival in Centre del Carme, a spectacular medieval cloister located in the heart of the old city of Valencia. Selection of students will be made by the faculty during the course.
- Full access to all the concerts of VIPA Concert Festival, including both Piano and Composition concerts.
- Certificate of participation in VIPA
JUNIOR DIVISION
At the VIPA Piano JUNIOR Division, students will have the opportunity to work with the following outstanding pianists and pedagogues:
MURRAY McLACHLAN (Royal Northern Conservatory of Music, Cheetham School of Music, Manchester, UK)
NAM YEUNG (Tainan University, Taiwan, China)
TINA SHAO (Tainan University, Taiwan, China)
JUAN LAGO (Conservatorio “José Iturbi”, Valencia, Talent Music Master Courses, Brescia, Italy)
- 5 individual lessons of 45’. Students can specify teacher preference. - Access to all other students’ individual lessons as auditors.
