About the Program

Overview

VIPA-Piano 2019 is moving again with an outstanding program directed by prestigious pianist and pedagogue Juan Lago. For this edition, VIPA will introduce the JUNIOR and PRO divisions, always with the objective of offering the best environment possible for our young students to enjoy a week of piano playing and piano networking.

VIPA 2019 Piano Program will be held between July 1 and 5 at the facilities of the “José Iturbi” Conservatory in Valencia, located at Avenida de Baleares, 36, in the breathtaking city of Valencia.

PRO DIVISION

VIPA PRO Division is designed for pianists/students over 18 who are currently enrolled in a college-level degree or have already completed it. Exceptions may occur, but need to be approved by the Director, based on artistic suitability.

At VIPA Piano PRO Division, students will have the opportunity to work with the following outstanding pianists and pedagogues:

JUAN LAGO (Conservatorio “José Iturbi”, Valencia, Talent Music Master Courses, Brescia, Italy)

ACTIVE VIPA PRO Division students will receive:

  • 5 individual lessons of 60’. Students can specify teacher preference. As far as possible, with the goal of providing a varied learning experience to the students, the organization will try to accommodate requests, but it’s encouraged to take lessons by as many different teachers as possible, in order to obtain the best benefit from the VIPA experience and its diversity.
  • Access to all other students’ individual lessons as auditors.
  • Full access and opportunity to participate in all workshops, seminars, lectures, and presentations taking place during the festival, including the Composition activities, which will happen between July 10-20.
  • Opportunity to perform in one of the concerts, either in the Conservatory’s Auditorium or at the VIPA Concert Festival in Centre del Carme, a spectacular medieval cloister located in the heart of the old city of Valencia. Selection of students will be made by the faculty during the course.
  • Full access to all the concerts of VIPA Concert Festival, including both Piano and Composition concerts.
  • Certificate of participation in VIPA

JUNIOR DIVISION

ACTIVE VIPA JUNIOR Division students will receive:

  • 5 individual lessons of 45’. Students can specify teacher preference. As far as possible, with the goal of providing a varied learning experience to the students, the organization will try to accommodate requests, but it’s encouraged to take lessons by as many different teachers as possible, in order to obtain the best benefit from the VIPA experience and its diversity. 
  • Access to all other students’ individual lessons as auditors.
  • Full access and opportunity to participate in all workshops, seminars, lectures, and presentations taking place during the festival, including the Composition activities, which will happen between July 10-20.
  • Opportunity to perform in one of the concerts at the Conservatory’s Auditorium. Selection of students will be made by the faculty during the course.
  • Full access to all the concerts of VIPA Concert Festival, including both Piano and Composition concerts.
  • Certificate of participation in VIPA

Apply to the 2019 VIPA Piano Performance Academy

Active student PRO Division: 650€

Active student JUNIOR Division: 460€

Auditor student PRO Division: 150€

APPLICATION DEADLINE: May 1st, 2019

DISCOUNTS:

Application and deposit paid before March 1st, 2019: Discount of 30€ for active participants in both PRO and JUNIOR divisions.

Students of the “J. ITURBI” Conservatory25% discount on tuition (either JUNIOR or PRO). Auditors FREE.

Active participants from previous VIPA editions: -50€.

To apply as an ACTIVE student, the applicants shall fill-in the Piano Performance Application Form and will make a payment of 250€ as a deposit towards the full tuition amount. The rest of the tuition will be paid on the first day of the academy. The deposit fee will be non-refundable.

APPLICATION MATERIALS:

All application data and materials are to be sent electronically through the Piano Performance Application Form, or by email to [email protected]. VIPA supports an environment-friendly and expense-free philosophy and hopes to avoid the unnecessary use of paper products, as well as the cost of postal fees. Applications should include the following:

  • COMPLETELY FILLED APPLICATION FORM
  • CURRICULUM VITAE or RESUME (include: educational background, schools, teachers, degrees, awards, prizes, previous festivals attended, and any relevant performances and/or professional experience). Submit with a link in the application form or via email at [email protected]
  • AUDIO/VIDEO materials. Free choice of programme. For video materials, please send a link to YouTube, Vimeo, or similar services. For Audio, send us a link to DropBox, WeTransfer or any other file transfer system.

SELECTION PROCESS:

There are limited positions available. Once reviewed, if approved, applications are processed on a rolling basis, that is, in the order in which they are received. There are limited positions available, so we encourage students to apply as soon as possible.
